Fresh Blooms Care Tips
After receiving a flower subscription delivery, here’s how you can take care of the blooms to keep them fresh longer.
- Upon receipt of flowers, remove the packaging to let the blooms stretch out and breathe.
- Place the flowers in a clean bucket or empty jar.
- All Fresh Blooms deliveries come with at least two packets of flower food. The flower food helps lower down the pH level of water, and at the same time, it provides the necessary nutrients that the flower needs to stay fresh and long-lasting. For best results, you can add 1 flower food packet to 0.5 liter of water.
- Each Fresh Blooms flower is packed with Arrive Alive Chrysal packaging. It is a tube of water placed at the bottom of the stem to keep flowers stay hydrated for at least an hour or two throughout the transportation period. Remove the tube from the stems.
- After removing the tubes, cut the bottom edge of each stem at an angle, specifically 45 degrees angle. Cutting the stem at this angle allows better water absorption.
- Trim each stem by removing the leaves that are below the waterline. Leaves that are soaked in water will cause bacteria accumulation and will shorten flower lifespan, thus affect the quality and freshness of flowers.
- After trimming the stems and removing the leaves, you can now arrange the flowers in your selected flower vase.
- Roses – Roses naturally have their guard petals. They are the outer petals that protect the inner petals from bruises and damages. When a bunch of Roses arrives, don’t panic if the petals are bruised. You can simply remove the outer petals to reveal the fresher, beautiful petals.
- Hydrangeas – Hydrangeas require more water for hydration. As soon as the flowers arrive, cut the stems at an angle, remove the leaves that will fall below the waterline, remove the water tubes, and place the stems in a clean vase with clean water. In case the Hydrangeas appear a little dehydrated, they will rehydrate after soaking the flower head in water for 30 minutes or overnight.
- Lilies and Tulips – When Lilies and Tulips arrive, they are in their bud form, the freshest form for such types of flowers. In bud form, you will get to enjoy Lilies and Tulips as they slowly bloom day by day.
- Carnations – Carnations also come in bud form. The blooms will open up by gently massaging the lower part of the bud and by rubbing the petals.
Daily Flower Care
- Keep the flowers away from direct sun exposure and heat by placing the vase in a cool area.
- Keep them away from the heater, air-conditioner, refrigerator, and fruits. Fruits emit ethylene, a type of gas that causes the flowers to wilt faster.
- Keep them hydrated with clean and bacteria-free water. You can change the water from the vase after every 2 days or when water gets cloudy.
- Keep the water clean by removing wilted leaves and petals. Don’t allow wilted leaves to stay on the water to prevent bacteria build-up and contamination of water.
